Spine and Wellness Centers of America (SWCA), operator of innovative institutes devoted to optimal health and wellness, announced today the official opening of their newest location in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth Neighborhood. Located at 404 Washington Ave. Suite 120 Miami Beach, FL 33139, the brand-new institute is now open. Miami Beach marks SWCA’s fifth outpost location in South Florida, joining locations in Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Kendall, Aventura, Jupiter/Gardens, and Tamarac. The Miami Beach center expansion will continue to serve and contribute to SWCA’s mission of merging preventive, holistic, and functional approaches to spine health, providing sophisticated and cutting-edge options to treat pain and optimize function.

At Spine and Wellness Centers of America, the focus is on minimally invasive treatments and meeting the needs of patients in search of evidence-based pain care. Leon Anijar, M.D., a double board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician with advanced subspecialty training in pain medicine, will uphold the title as director of the new Miami Beach center. Anijar completed his residency training at the University of Florida in Gainesville and his fellowship training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He earned his Bachelor of Science at Emory University and received his medical degree at the University of South Florida.

“I’m a physician first and foremost, so I take the responsibility of my role very seriously. I’m also a Floridian – raised right here in South Florida,” said Dr. Anijar. “I’m proud to be a member of the SWCA team because what separates us is the ability to offer South Florida the full spectrum of pain care ranging from medical management and physical therapy to more advanced injections and implantable devices. Additionally, we have a one-stop-shop infrastructure with in-house spine surgery, neurology, MRI, and a procedure suite so patients don’t need to travel around for their healthcare.”

Dr. Anijar believes that every patient deserves to live their lives pain-free and tailors each patient’s treatment plan to his or her specific needs. He has extensive experience treating a variety of pain conditions, including axial low back pain, cervical neck pain, lumbar radiculopathy, complex regional pain syndrome, and neuropathic pain.

“I get tremendous satisfaction from effectively diagnosing and treating my patients’ underlying pain conditions. My goal is to provide my patients with pain relief by using the most evidence-based treatment plans,” said Dr. Anijar. “I’m especially interested in advanced pain procedures such as kyphoplasty, spinal cord stimulation, and interspinous spacer devices. There are a lot of very exciting, minimally invasive new treatment modalities that can provide patients with significant pain relief without the need for opioids.”
