L. Douglas “Doug” Kennedy, MD, is certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Kennedy’s practice involves both interventional and medical pain care. He has extensive experience working with orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, spine surgeons, chiropractors, physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, neurologists, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals. Dr. Kennedy has been in practice since 1985 and exclusively in Pain Medicine since 1991. He is a member of the American Board of Pain Medicine, American Board of Anesthesiology, and American Academy of Pain Medicine.

Dr. Kennedy is also a member of the International Spine Intervention Society; he was also a Board Member and senior level instructor for the organization. Dr. Kennedy has been a consultant with the Florida Department of Health, the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Office of Inspector General (OIG). Dr. Kennedy was the primary author in writing the initial guidelines for prescription of controlled substances for Kentucky (1996). He was a principal contributor to establishing a statewide program for monitoring controlled substance prescribing. Dr. Kennedy has lectured to Workers’ Compensation Administrative Law Judges and consulted with the USDOJ for personal injury cases.

He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed an Internal Medicine Internship and Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Kentucky and a Pain Medicine Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
